USING THE TOOL
Terms of use.

CaptionClean is a free tool for cleaning and converting existing subtitles. Using it means you agree to these terms.
Your content
You retain ownership of the subtitle content you enter. You are responsible for having permission to process and use that content and for complying with any relevant obligations. The tool does not upload subtitle text to our server or claim rights over it.
Check the result
The tool validates basic cue structure, but it cannot verify the accuracy of words, translation, reading speed, synchronization with your video, or suitability for accessibility. Review the output and conversion notices, then preview the exported subtitle with your video before publishing or relying on it. Keep a copy of your original file.
WebVTT settings, metadata, notes, regions, styles, and cue identifiers are omitted. Negative timing shifts may clip the starts of cues or omit cues that end at or before zero. These limitations are part of the tool's intended behavior and are explained in the guide.
Availability and cost
No account, subscription, or payment is currently required. Features, file limits, and availability may change. We provide the tool as available without a guarantee of uninterrupted service or compatibility with every subtitle file, player, or editor.
Responsible use
Do not attempt to interfere with the website, bypass its security, or use it in a way that unlawfully infringes another person's rights. Use the locally produced output responsibly. Normal browsing and reporting bugs are welcome.
Liability and changes
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for losses arising from errors in converted subtitles or interruptions to the tool. These terms do not exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded. Updated terms will appear on this page with a revised date.
